Ice Laser Hair Removal
Unwanted hair is a common problem for both women and men, and nowadays the most preferred solution for this issue is laser hair removal.
The use of traditional methods such as waxing, which have a high risk of damaging the skin and are painful, is decreasing day by day.
In our clinic, the laser technology we use for laser hair removal combines three wavelengths in one applicator, namely Alexandrite, Diode, and Nd:YAG, allowing us to reach different absorption and depth levels.
With a 4 cm² large treatment applicator and the combination of 3 wavelengths, the treatment time has been reduced by 40% compared to other laser systems.
How does laser hair removal eliminate hair? Does it harm my deep tissues or organs?
Laser hair removal works on the principle of transmitting laser energy to the hair follicle, where the laser energy is converted into heat energy. It effectively damages the hair follicles by heating them to a temperature that prevents regrowth while preventing damage to the surrounding non-hair-bearing tissue. The wavelengths used in laser hair removal systems only target the hair follicles in the skin and do not penetrate into deep tissues. Therefore, it is not possible for internal organs to be affected during laser hair removal.
The ICE Plus cooling technology also cools the surface of the skin, preventing pain and other side effects.
In which skin and hair types is Laser Hair Removal effective?
This system, approved by the FDA (U.S. Food and Drug Administration), can be safely used on all skin types and is effective on all hair types, including fine hair. The combination of three wavelengths in one applicator means that three different tissue depths can be targeted simultaneously. Combining the absorption and tissue penetration characteristics of each wavelength allows for effective results on every skin tone and every body area, including bronzed and dark skin tones. Additionally, because it can target all anatomical structures of hair and different depths of hair follicles, it also provides effective results on fine hairs.
How many sessions will it take for my hair to disappear, and how often should the sessions be?
The number of sessions required varies depending on the individual's hormone status, hair type, genetic predisposition, and regularity of attendance at sessions. Therefore, while a minimum of 8 sessions is recommended, sessions should be attended regularly until the desired results are achieved.
For the facial area, sessions are recommended to be spaced 1 month apart, while for body areas, they are recommended to be spaced 1.5 months apart.
What will I feel during the laser hair removal procedure, or will I experience a lot of pain?
It is not possible to say that any laser hair removal procedure is completely painless. However, it should be noted that the pain experienced during the procedure is minimal.
When the application head touches the skin, it feels icy cold and provides a refreshing sensation to the skin. Instead of intense heat, a cool sensation is felt during laser hair removal. There may be a slight warming sensation in the last few seconds as the heat gradually increases. However, with effective cooling, the procedure is completed without the sensation turning into pain. This allows for a minimally painful or completely painless hair removal experience.
The Ice Head with ICE Plus technology continuously cools the skin throughout the application, minimizing the risks of heating on the skin surface, protecting the skin surface, and minimizing unwanted effects such as skin burns or changes in skin color. Additionally, with SHR Technology, because hair follicles are gradually heated, intense laser heat is not felt.
Can I continue laser hair removal in the summer months?
The laser system we use for laser hair removal simultaneously delivers three wavelengths to the skin. Thus, it is possible to benefit from the advantages of each of the Alexandrite, Diode, and Nd:YAG wavelengths. Therefore, it can be applied to all skin types and hair types, including dark skin.
We continue to perform laser hair removal safely during the summer months. It is not necessary to wait for the tan on the skin to fade to have laser hair removal. It is only necessary to take a break of approximately 15 days if our skin has tanned while on vacation. After that, it is possible to continue with the sessions.
Can Men Easily Undergo Laser Hair Removal?
Many men nowadays opt for laser hair removal to get rid of unwanted hair. Since men's hair is generally thicker and denser compared to women's, laser hair removal for men is often perceived as more painful. However, with laser systems equipped with ICE Plus Technology, the sensation of pain during laser hair removal is minimized due to continuous cooling on the skin.
It's possible to painlessly eliminate unwanted hair from all parts of the body, including the genital area, through laser hair removal. Additionally, laser hair removal is one of the most preferred methods for shaping the beard.
Can laser treatment be performed after waxing or threading?
After such procedures, if one desires laser hair removal, it's necessary to wait for all hairs to grow back completely. This waiting period is essential for the laser device to be able to detect the hair follicles and achieve the desired results. Otherwise, the expected outcome may not be achieved.
What should I pay attention to before and after the procedure?
When deciding to undergo laser hair removal, methods like waxing that completely remove the hair follicles should be discontinued. If hair removal has been done through such methods, one should wait until all hairs grow back completely. To enable the laser to detect hair follicles, the areas to be treated should be shaved with a razor one day before the session.
Contrary to popular belief, shaving all body hairs, including facial hairs, with a razor does not strengthen the hairs.
In women, it's not recommended for laser hair removal sessions to coincide with their menstrual cycles because pain tolerance is lower during this period, and if genital area hair removal is to be performed, it becomes more challenging.
What are the risks of laser hair removal?
It's a well-known fact that when laser hair removal is performed in unprofessional environments, such as those without proper medical supervision or using non-FDA-approved devices, the risk of encountering unwanted effects like burns is high. Although laser hair removal may seem like an aesthetic procedure, it should not be forgotten that it's a medical procedure.
It's also important to protect the skin from the sun after the procedure. Sunscreen should be applied especially to the areas where laser treatment was performed and exposed to the sun.
Some individuals may experience temporary dryness of the skin after laser hair removal. In such cases, it's recommended to use moisturizing creams.
Is it possible not to benefit from the hair removal procedure?
Especially in women with conditions like Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) or hormonal imbalances due to overactive adrenal glands, the response rate to laser hair removal is lower. In this patient group, even if laser hair removal is performed, the recurrence rate in subsequent years is much higher compared to other patients.
Sometimes, even if hormone levels are normal in individuals genetically predisposed to hairiness, the effect of hormones on receptors can be strong, making it difficult to achieve the desired results with laser hair removal.
Who is not eligible for laser hair removal?
Pregnant individuals
Those with high sensitivity to light or with connective tissue diseases that flare up with intense light exposure
Individuals with epilepsy
During treatment with medications like Roaccutane that cause dryness and sensitivity of the skin (It's necessary to wait approximately 4-6 months after the end of the treatment)
Individuals undergoing cancer treatment
Adolescents who have just entered puberty and whose hair growth is not yet complete
In the presence of active infections on the skin surface
